Professional Exfoliation Treatments
Professional exfoliation treatments yield immediate visible results triggering a lovely chain reaction. As the outer topmost layer is shed, signals are sent to the living cells below to multiply and move up to increase collagen production and make more hyaluronic acid for enhanced skin hydration. In other words, they trigger the skin to act younger. My favorite “go to” skin exfoliation treatments currently offered at Carmel Cosmetic & Plastic Surgeons include:
Chemical Peels-Acid formulas have been refined over the years and so have our approaches to using them. The goal isn’t so much to cause visible peeling as it is to infuse the skin with custom blended ingredients that diminish fine lines, stimulate collagen, lighten pigmentation and improve skin tone.
Microdermabrasion- Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that lightly propels a jet of fine micro crystals across the skin to remove the outer most layer. Provides accelerated skin cell turn over, increased circulation and collagen stimulation resulting in improved texture and skin tone; a return to the skin of your youth. Progressive treatments can soften the appearance of fine lines, large pores and scars from acne. Your skin will feel incredibly clean and fresh after only one treatment. Great as a stand-alone treatment or it can also be paired with Dermaplane, chemical peels or a hydrating therapeutic facial.
Basic Dermaplane- An effective exfoliation technique utilizing a medical blade and the fine art of planning to remove dead skin and fine vellus hair or “peach fuzz”. This fine light hair does not respond to most laser therapies and waxing can sometimes irritate the delicate tissues of facial skin. Skin will immediately appear brighter, smooth and soft. Dermaplane will not change the vellus hair color, density or structure-it simply grows back. An excellent treatment alone or as an add on service to compliment other facial treatments. It is one of my most requested treatments and can be performed on any skin type and color. Skin immediately feels smooth and silky with an enhanced dewy glow.
Deluxe Dermaplane- Basic Dermaplane with therapeutic massage of face, scalp, shoulders and décolleté’.
Skin Pen/Microneedling-Micro-needling involves making controlled micro-proliferations in the skin while depositing active ingredients into the lower layers where they can be most effective. The skins natural repair mechanisms and circulation are stimulated to produce enhanced collagen and elastin in order to repair the micro proliferations. This self-repairing process is a natural form of skin renewal from the inside out. Progressive treatments can soften fine lines and wrinkles, improve acne scars, minimize appearance of pores and improve tone and texture.
