March Madness, Selection Sunday, and Selecting a Plastic Surgeon
College basketball will hold their always much-anticipated Selection Sunday this Sunday for the NCAA Division I men's and women's basketball tournaments. The 68-team men's field will be announced at 6 p.m. ET on CBS. The women's 68-team field will be announced at 8 p.m on ESPN. This is an important day for all of the NCAA's Division I basketball participants as teams are ranked and the determination of who will play who in the tournament is made!
Choosing the perfect plastic surgeon is a lot like Selection Sunday. Before undergoing plastic surgery, potential patients should due their due diligence and make a mental bracket of their options. Learning about the specific procedure and viewing various surgeons' websites can provide important initial information. Once you have narrowed your choice of surgeons to a small group, an in-person consultation will need to be scheduled. This step is crucial as only at this point can the best physician and ultimate winner be determined.
To help prospective patients begin their journey, the American Board of Plastic Surgery as well as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons have put together criteria of what to look for in a plastic surgeon.
Below Carmel Cosmetic & Plastic Surgeons has compiled some items that can be used as a point of reference to compare doctors. In the end, it should be simple to narrow your choice down not only to the most qualified plastic surgeon, but also find the one that best connects with your individual, personal needs.

Did the surgeon’s office clearly describe their fees – and are these all-inclusive?
While these are just a few of the questions that you should ask yourself during and after each consultation appointment, it is clear that no detail can be overlooked. From the friendliness of the office staff to the congeniality of the surgeon, everything should come into play when choosing a plastic surgeon. See our FAQs.
Take a cue from Selection Sunday and give your potential plastic surgeons deep scrutiny. Unlike the NCAA tournament, there is no ‘maybe next year’ regarding your aesthetic surgical results.
