Happy Galentine's Day: The Best Fake Holiday Ever
Happy Galentine's Day!
This annual festival of sisterhood was imagined into existence by the Parks and Recreation writing staff in 2010. Leslie Knope coined the term during the second season of the show. She explains in the episode, “What is Galentine’s Day? Oh, it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it... ladies celebrating ladies." So, basically, it's the greatest fake holiday ever!
Galentine's Day events are typically all-female occasions of mutual empowerment...a reminder for women to support and uplift one another.
So celebrate Galentine's Day today and call your gal pals and chill.
