Brachioplasty: Giving Your Arms A Lift
Tank tops, sleeveless dresses, swim suits.....all summer long our arms are exposed for all to see. Women commonly are self conscious about the shape and contour of their arms--- particularly the underside of their upper arms. This can happen despite good exercise and fitness. Over time, the skin loses its normal elasticity resulting in sagging skin under the arms. Excess skin under the arms can also occur as a result of massive or rapid weight loss. While exercise can strengthen and improve muscle tone in the upper arm, it doesn't fully address the excess skin under the arm. An arm lift also known as brachioplasty can help improve or restore the shape and contour of your upper arms.
An arm lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure to improve the appearance of your upper arms. During an arm lift excess skin and fat are removed from the armpit to approximately the elbow. The incision is then closed creating a better contour and a more toned look. Your surgeon may also perform liposuction to remove additonal fat from the arm.
You should be aware the incision can be lengthy; however, it is strategically placed under the arm as to be least visible.
Arm lift results are typically long lasting. Remember, however, your skin will naturally lose some firmness as you age and some sagging might occur. Maintaining a stable, healthy weight can help you retain your results.
