Gearing Up for Resuming Elective Surgical Procedures
Effective April 24th, Governor Holcomb signed Executive Order (EO) 20-24 permitting the resumption of elective medical procedures on April 27th in Indiana. The current focus for an increasing number of facilities is now towards “gearing up” for elective operations.
The previous suspension of elective procedures during the COVID-19 crisis was difficult in many ways, but it was also effective. There was progress made and we saw a flattening of the curve with a reduction of new COVID-19 cases.
A stepped approach to resuming normal activities has been based on trajectories of syndromic illnesses, diagnosed cases, need for hospital "crisis care," and testing availability.
We are happy to announce that on May 4th, Dr Grasee and Dr Bergman plan to resume elective surgical procedures at Carmel Ambulatory Surgery Center and St Vincent hospital facilities.
For post-procedure visits, we will be maintaining COVID precautions here at Carmel Cosmetic & Plastic Surgeons. You will be asked screening questions as you enter the office regarding fever, cough, shortness of breath or exposure to COVID-19 positive patients. Additionally, our surgeons, staff, and patients will continue to wear face masks and gloves. For the continued health and safety of all, we ask you not to have any family members, children, or friends accompany you to your appointment. If they or a driver must accompany you, they will be politely asked to wait in the car until your appointment is over. We are dedicated to staying up to date with the recommendations of the local, national, and global organizations (CDC and WHO).
Please do not hesitate to contact the office with any questions or concerns you may have.
