You no longer have to fear that becoming a mother means giving up your pre-pregnancy figure forever.  A growing number of women are undergoing mommy makeovers--multiple plastic surgery procedures that restore, or improve, their post-pregnancy bodies. At Carmel Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons, we can help you achieve your goals.

Mommy Makeover Procedures

It's no secret that pregnancy causes enormous changes in a woman's body. As your baby grows, your abdominal wall expands stretching the abdominal muscles and abdominal skin. For many women, these stretched tissues don't "bounce back" after pregnancy, leaving behind excess abdominal skin and stretch marks that do not respond to diet and exercise. A key component to your mommy makeover is a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. This procedure removes excess abdominal skin and tightens the abdominal wall musculature. Best results are achieved once you have lost the "baby weight" and are again at your pre-pregnancy weight.

But the abdomen is not the only area that can be impacted by pregnancy. Changes in the breasts caused by pregnancy and breast feeding can result in volume loss and can also result in changes leading to ptosis or drooping of the breasts. Breast augmentation with implants can restore breast volume and breast lift or mastopexy can rectify ptosis.

It is not difficult to imagine that moms also notice a change in their body fat distribution after pregnancy.  Although not a substitute for diet and exercise, liposuction can be a valuable tool to help contour your body to its pre-pregnancy appearance.

Even cosmetic labiaplasty which includes modification of the labia minora can be considered when contemplating a mommy makeover.

It is understandable that you may worry about taking time away from your family for self improvement.  However, we have heard from many women after their mommy makeovers who say they wished they had undergone their procedures sooner. The surgery and recovery period are often only a short term inconvenience for a long-term gain in confidence and satisfaction.
